Descripción
The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring the progress of an area of
disturbed weather located near 13N 48W. This is about 1249 km or 776 miles east of Barbados.
Current Situation:
Satellite imagery is indicating a slight improvement in the convection associated with the system during the course of the day. Despite this, due to the rather broad circulation, it remains poorly organized. There are presently no watches or warnings in effect for Barbados and this system poses absolutely no threat to the island at this time.
Intensity Forecast:
As the system maintains its westward motion, some slow but gradual development is forecast and a tropical depression or tropical storm is likely to develop over the next 24 to 48 hours. In addition, guidance suggest that the feature should start tightening up its circulation on late Tuesday, and make steady intensification from then.
Track Forecast:
Currently there is a fairly good consensus in the model guidance that the system will track westward and then west north-westward over the next few days. Such a track would take the center and associated winds closer to the southern Leeward islands (well away from Barbados) Thursday 30th July, 2020.
Recommendations to the public:
Stay alert for updates from the BMS on this system over the next few days.
The next update will be at 6:00am Tuesday 28th July, 2020.
