WEATHER INFORMATION STATEMENT #2 FOR BARBADOS
Effective
18:09:55 2020-07-26
Expires
02:00:00 2020-07-27
Description
The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring an area of disturbed weather located near 11N 38W or 2230 km (1440 miles) east of Barbados.
Current Situation:
Convection associated with the system remains poorly organized, primarily due to the rather broad circulation and dry air wrapping into the system from the north east. There are presently no watches or warnings in effect for Barbados and this system poses absolutely no threat to the island at this time.
Intensity Forecast:
As the system progresses westward, some slow but gradual development is forecast and a tropical depression or tropical storm is likely to develop over the next day or two.
Track Forecast:
Currently there is a fairly good consensus in the model guidance that the system will track westward and then north-westward over the next few days. Such a track would take the center and associated winds closer to the Leeward islands (well away from Barbados) Thursday 30th July, 2020.
Recommendations to the Public:
Stay alert for updates from the BMS on this system over the next few days.
The next update will be at 6am Monday 27th July, 2020.
