WEATHER INFORMATION STATEMENT #2 ON TROPICAL DEPRESSION #7 FOR BARBADOS
Effective
23:25:25 2020-07-21
Expires
05:30:00 2020-07-22
Description
The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring the progress of tropical depression #7, located near 10.0N 41.3W at 1100PM. This is about 2020 km or 1250 miles to the east of Barbados.
This system is moving towards the west north-west at 9 mph or 15 km/h.
A faster westward motion is expected during the next few days and an increase in foward speed through to Friday.
Convection has improved throughout the early part of tonight with a central dense overcast holding its own, but displaced slightly to the south of the center due to shear. The depression could be upgraded to a tropcial storm some time on Wednesday 22nd July, 2020.
At the moment environmental conditions are currently not conducive for rapid development of the system. However, as the system tracks westward across the central Atlantic some slow development is still possible and a tropical storm watch maybe issued for Barbados from 11pm Wednesday 22nd July, 2020 or sooner if conditions warrant.

The BMS will continue to monitor the progress of this system. The next update will be at 5am Wednesday 22nd of July 2020 or sooner if conditions warrant.
