WEATHER INFORMATION STATEMENT FOR BARBADOS
Effective
10:30:35 2020-07-21
Expires
10:00:00 2020-07-22
Description
The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring the progress of an area of low pressure currently embedded within the monsoon trough, located near 9N 39W at 0800LST. This is about 2280 km or 1420 miles to the east south-east of Barbados.
This system is moving towards the west at 10 mph/ 16 km/h.
This motion is expected to continue for the next 24 hours or so with a gradual turn towards the west north-west thereafter.
Convection remains somewhat disorganized at the moment as environmental conditions are currently not conducive for rapid development of the system. However, as the system tracks westward across the central Atlantic some slow development is possible.
*****System Environment******
The system will experience some wind shear and mid-level dry air intrusion which may have an impact on organized convective activity and any rapid intensification as it tracks westward.
****Reminders*****
The BMS wishes to remind all residents and visitors to first verify all information with BMS official sources such as the BMS website, or social pages before sharing/spreading this bulletin to others. Links to these sources can be found in this document.
The BMS will continue to monitor the progress of this system. The next update will be at 10am Wednesday 22nd of July 2020 or sooner if conditions warrant.
